Newsletter 4th December 2017

We are definitely into the throes of winter with a taste of snow already this year and more to come according to the forecast. Please send your child to school in a suitable outdoor coat, gloves and footwear. If they come in wellingtons or other boots, please send their school shoes for them to change in to.

We always welcome the views of parents, carers and pupils as they help us to evaluate the work we do and make improvements where required. Attached to this newsletter is a brief questionnaire. Please take the time to complete it and return to school by Monday 18th December. The pupils will be asked to complete their own in school before Christmas.

Christmas Performances

Foundation Stage and Key Stage One are practising hard for their Christmas performance. Please see the dates at the end of this newsletter.

Parking

Parking continues to be an issue and raises concerns for the safety of our children. At this time of year when it is dusk at the end of the day, please think carefully about where you park your car. There is a car park next to the playpark which is available to use. This issue will be one of the first things our Junior Traffic Ambassadors will be looking at.

Christmas Lights Switch On

The annual Patrington Christmas Lights switch on and Carol Evening will be held on Tuesday 5th December. Once again there will be a representation from Patrington Primary Academy to join in.

Christmas Fair

We holding our Christmas fair on Thursday 7th December at 2:30pm. Thank you for all the donations we have received. Please remember to drop off any contributions to the cake stall by Thursday morning. Any volunteers to help set up or run stalls will be gratefully appreciated. Please let the office know if you can help.

Community News

St Patrick’s church will be holding their crib Service at 4pm on Sunday 24th December.

For further information have a look at their website:

Can you help?

Foundation Stage would like any unused wallpaper rolls or end of rolls that are no longer required.

You may be making room for the new toys Father Christmas is going to bring. If so, and you have any unwanted toys or games, the Extended Schools Club would love to hear from you.

Please let the office know if you think you can help.

Reminders

If your child wears ear rings please ensure they are the plain small stud type and that they are removed on PE days or plasters/tape sent to school with your child so that they can be covered for safety reasons.

Pupils should bring their PE kits on a Monday to leave in school until Friday as sometimes additional opportunities during the week may mean they need their PE kits.

We would also remind parents that children should not wear nail varnish in school.

Parents who wish to see a member of staff before school starts should enquire at the school office, where Mrs Dee or Mrs Wilson will be able to help you.

Arrangements for the start and end of the day

Gates will be opened at 8:40am and doors at 8:45am. Pupils are then able to enter the building as soon as they arrive through the appropriate doors. The doors will remain open until 8:55am. Anyone arriving after this time will need to enter the school via the office.

At the end of the day FS1 and FS2 pupils, as well as children in Years 1 and 2, will be handed over to parents, so please come into the school grounds when the gate is opened at 3.10pm.

For pupils in Years 3 to 6 they are allowed to meet you outside the school gate or walk home alone, if this is what you arrange with your child. Please inform staff of any special collection arrangements.

Please note that parents should not enter the school building unless accompanied by a member of staff for safeguarding purposes.

Monthly Parent Assembly

We would love as many of you as possible to join us for our end of term celebration assembly on Friday 15th December at 2.30pm in the hall.
